Food packaging MOQ database

Buyers often see one number described as MOQ even when it actually means a sample quantity, production minimum or carton pack. This database separates those fields so importers and distributors can plan a realistic trial or mixed-SKU request.

A carton count is not automatically the order minimum. Production MOQ and print economics are quoted separately.

Why three quantities matter

Sample quantity answers how many pieces are needed to evaluate the product. Custom-development quantity answers whether a one-piece prototype or trial can be prepared. Bulk MOQ answers what production run is commercially and technically feasible. Master-carton quantity only describes packing.

For the supplied PET and PP series, ECONOVAPACK accepts custom-development or sample requests from one piece. Printing remains available, but process, setup cost and bulk run are confirmed from the actual artwork and quantity.

How to lower a first order

Choose an existing mold and standard rim, use a current lid family, limit print colors, accept standard inner packing and combine compatible SKUs in one shipment. These choices can reduce tooling and packing complexity even when they do not change every factory minimum.

Send the destination and target landed-volume constraints with the RFQ. A mixed-SKU quote can then compare carton counts, CBM and gross weight instead of focusing on unit price alone.

Read carton data separately from MOQ

The PET database includes master-carton quantities ranging from 500 to 2,500 pieces by SKU, while the PP sauce-cup series uses 2,500 or 5,000 pieces for its published cup and lid packs. Those numbers describe how goods are packed. They do not automatically state the minimum commercial order and they should not be copied into an MOQ column without checking the quotation.

Carton data still matters early in the buying process. Multiply the required SKU quantity by its packing ratio to estimate full cartons, then use carton dimensions, CBM and gross weight to compare shipping scenarios. If the desired trial quantity is below a full carton, ask how the sample or custom-development pieces will be packed and protected. If it is above one carton but below a production run, ask whether stock, a shared run or a custom run is available.

Prepare a useful mixed-SKU request

List each product on a separate line with SKU or required capacity, rim or lid, material, quantity, printing, destination and target delivery date. For PET and PP cups, state the required lid ratio and whether spare lids are needed. For PLA, paper, bagasse or kraft items, attach the available specification or reference photo and identify any dimensions that cannot change.

A mixed-SKU quotation should return the MOQ or available quantity for each line, pieces per carton, carton count, carton dimensions, gross and net weight, sample route, print or tooling cost, production lead-time basis and shipping term. This makes it possible to remove or adjust one item without recalculating the entire request from assumptions.

Compare quotations with one worksheet

Give every supplier the same line-item request and keep separate columns for sample quantity, custom-development quantity, bulk MOQ, master-carton quantity and print setup. Add unit price, tooling or plate charge, carton count, CBM, gross weight, incoterm, loading port, payment terms, production lead-time basis and quotation validity. Mark any field that is estimated or still subject to sample approval. This prevents a low sample quantity from being mistaken for a bulk production commitment and prevents a carton count from being treated as the only available order size. ECONOVAPACK's CSV and JSON files can supply the published PET and PP dimensions and packing fields; the current written quotation should fill the commercial fields that change by project.
