Start with an identical RFQ
Send each candidate the same product type, dimensions or capacity, material, food application, quantity, printing coverage, destination and packing requirement. Prices are not comparable when suppliers quote different board grades, coatings, carton quantities or print processes.
Compare MOQ in context
Ask separately for stock, standard-size unprinted, standard-size custom printed and fully custom options. A lower MOQ can be practical for a trial order, but unit price, freight efficiency and print setup cost may change.
Check samples and specification control
Use samples to check size, lid fit, closure, stacking, grease or moisture resistance and the intended food application. Available standard samples may be free while the buyer pays courier charges. A stock sample is not final approval for custom artwork or a new material.
Verify documents against the product
Request documents only after the material, product and supply route are known. BRCGS, FSC and FDA-related food-contact support should be checked for holder, scope, validity and relevance; no single document automatically covers an entire catalog.
Confirm production and export packing
Record approved artwork, tolerances, inspection points, carton quantity, carton dimensions, marks, pallet plan and shipment terms. Ask for final packing data before booking freight.
